Welcome to St. Gregory’s Catholic Primary School
A heartfelt welcome to our happy, vibrant, and flourishing school community. At St. Gregory’s, we are proud to be a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School, offering a nurturing and inspiring education for children aged 4 to 11. With seven single-aged classes from Reception to Year Six and 202 wonderful children currently on roll, we are a close-knit school family where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to shine.
Our school is supported by Lancashire Local Education Authority and the Liverpool Archdiocesan Trustees. At the heart of everything we do are the values of our Catholic faith, which shape the warm, caring, and respectful atmosphere that makes St. Gregory’s so special. We cherish our strong links with our parish community at St. Gregory’s Weldbank and our partner secondary school, Holy Cross Catholic High School, where many of our pupils continue their journey.
Our Vision
St. Gregory’s is known for its outstanding pastoral care, excellent behaviour, and high academic achievement—all within a loving, Christ-centred environment. We believe in nurturing the whole child, and our school motto, “Be Kind, Be Fair, Be Honest,” is lived out every day in the way we treat one another.
We are passionate about learning and dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential. Our staff, governors, parents, and pupils all work together with a shared commitment to excellence. Our guiding principle—“Nothing but our best will do”—drives us to create a joyful, engaging, and supportive learning environment where children feel safe, confident, and inspired.
We celebrate each child’s unique talents and encourage them to explore their interests through a rich and balanced curriculum, including music, drama, and sport. Our dedicated team of staff and governors continually strive to improve and innovate, ensuring that our school remains a place of excellence, opportunity, and joy.
Due to our growing popularity, applications often exceed our available places. We warmly encourage prospective families to review our admissions criteria and to come and experience the St. Gregory’s spirit for themselves.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us to arrange a visit—I would be delighted to welcome you personally and show you what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.
With warmest wishes,
Mr Darren Darbyshire
