Head Teacher’s Welcome
A warm welcome to our happy, popular and thriving school. St. Gregory’s is a Voluntary Aided, Catholic Primary School, providing education for children between the ages of 4 to 11 in seven single-aged classes from Reception to Year Six. There are currently 212 children on roll. The school is maintained by Lancashire Local Education Authority and the Liverpool Archdiocesan Trustees. The principles of the Catholic faith are paramount and the whole atmosphere of the school promotes this. We enjoy close links with our Parish community of St Gregory’s Weldbank and our Catholic High School, Holy Cross, to which the majority of our pupils transfer at the end of Year Six.
Our School Vision
St Gregory’s has an excellent reputation based on its high standards of pastoral care, behaviour and achievement within a Christ-centred environment. An emphasis on teaching respect, manners and kindness ensures that children are happy, considerate and well-behaved, following our school motto: “Be Kind, Be Fair, Be Honest.” We are passionate about learning and deeply committed to the highest possible standards of achievement for all our pupils within a loving and caring Catholic community.
All staff, children, parents and governors aspire to always give their best. The Senior Leadership Team seek to drive the highest possible standards in order for every child to fulfil their potential. ‘Nothing but the best will do’ is our ultimate aim. We believe that positive relationships with peers and staff , enjoyable and engaging lessons are the essential ingredients for effective learning and development. We provide encouragement and opportunity for children to find and develop their individual talents and skills and we actively promote participation in music, drama and sport.
A dedicated team of staff and governors ensures that the school's continual development and pursuit of high standards across a broad and balanced curriculum is maintained. Applications to the school have consistently exceeded our capacity in recent years, so parents are strongly advised to consult our school’s admissions criteria before applying for a place.
Prospective pupils and their families are warmly encouraged to come and visit our school and meet me for a tour and an informal discussion. Please telephone the school to make an appointment.
